Privacy Policy

Coach Jeff is an AI companion application. It is not a medical device, a licensed mental health provider, or a crisis service. Nothing you share with Coach Jeff constitutes a clinical record, a medical record, or a therapy session.

• Account information: Your name and email address when you register.
• Profile information (My World): Information you choose to share about yourself — your branch of service, family, personal history, preferences, and other details that help Coach Jeff know you better. You control what you share.
• Conversation content: The messages you send and the responses you receive, in both text and voice modes.
• Emergency plan: If you set up a safety plan within the app, that information is stored as part of your profile.

• Voice data: When you use voice mode, your speech is transmitted to ElevenLabs for processing. ElevenLabs converts your speech to text and Coach Jeff's responses to audio. We do not store raw audio recordings on our servers.
• Device information: Basic information about your device type, operating system version, and app version — used for troubleshooting and compatibility.
• Session data: When you start and end sessions, how long they run, and whether any errors occur.
• Push notification tokens: If you enable notifications, your device token is stored to deliver them.
• Usage patterns: How you use the app — which screens you visit, how often you open it — collected in aggregate to improve the product.

Every conversation passes through our safety system. If a conversation reaches Tier 2 or higher on our crisis scale, a log entry is created. This log records that a crisis-level event occurred, the session ID, the tier level, and the time. It does not record what you said. This log may be reviewed by the MyBFFCoach team for safety and quality purposes.

• To operate the app: Your conversation content and profile data are used to generate Coach Jeff's responses. The more you share in My World, the better Coach Jeff knows you.
• To maintain memory: Key facts from your conversations — things you clearly care about — are extracted and stored so Coach Jeff remembers them in future sessions.
• To deliver your news: If you've enabled news updates, we use your location or stated preferences to pull relevant current events.
• To send push notifications: If you've enabled them, to send check-ins and session reminders.
• To improve the product: Aggregate, de-identified usage data helps us understand what's working and what isn't.
• To respond to you: If you contact us with a question or support request.

When your account is deleted, your profile, conversations, memories, and My World data are permanently removed from our systems within 30 days.

We do not sell your data. We do not share your data with advertisers. We share data only with the vendors necessary to operate the app, and only to the extent required.

All vendors are required to handle your data in accordance with applicable law and their own privacy policies. We do not authorize any vendor to use your data for their own purposes beyond what is necessary to provide the service.

When you use voice mode, your speech is sent to ElevenLabs in real time. ElevenLabs processes it using their Conversational AI platform. ElevenLabs' privacy policy governs how they handle this data. We encourage you to review it at elevenlabs.io/privacy.

We do not retain raw audio recordings of your voice sessions on our servers.

Your conversation content and profile data are transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS). Data at rest is stored in secured cloud infrastructure. We use industry-standard authentication, JWT tokens, and access controls to protect your account.

No system is perfectly secure. If we become aware of a breach affecting your data, we will notify you as required by applicable law.

• Access your data: Request a copy of the information we hold about you.
• Delete your data: Delete your account and all associated data through the app, or by contacting us directly.
• Correct your data: Update your My World profile and account information at any time in the app.
• Opt out of notifications: Disable push notifications at any time in your device settings or within the app.
• Withdraw consent: Stop using the app at any time. Deleting your account removes your data.

Coach Jeff is not intended for anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, contact us at rusty@mybffcoach.com and we will delete it promptly.

Coach Jeff is not a covered entity under HIPAA. It is not a medical device and does not provide medical services. However, we take the privacy of what you share seriously — especially given the sensitive nature of the topics many veterans discuss. Our privacy practices are designed to exceed the spirit of HIPAA standards even though we are not legally required to comply with them.

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to delete it, and the right to opt out of its sale. If we make material changes to this policy, we will notify you through the app or by email before the changes take effect. The "last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
